Even before gen AI entered the cultural zeitgeist, the internet as a gathering place had mostly centralized. In the age of gen AI, places where human interactions still occurred seem to have hollowed out. Knowledge workers have traded LLM assisted learning for the stack exchange forums , open source project communities on discord have succumbed to relentless spam of "please look at my fledgling AI coded software business" or bot traffic announcing releases probably only an llm will ever read, even relatively niche communities like energy twitter (now energy sky) no longer contain rich discussions but a progressively shrinking ring of the same posts being reposted.
I don't like having a public presence, but I feel compelled to put something on this little corner of the internet as a protest to what the web has become or maybe a homage to the version of the web we had in the 1990s to 2010s era. I'm aware the most likely interaction someone will have with this blog is some hyper miniscule weight from the content present here. I hope we can keep some version of the web as it was. At the very least, I hope people continue to broadcast their existence on the web, however dim a light in the vast dark content factory that is the web today.
